Parrot Trick Training

Teaching Wave, Spin, and Basketball Games

Ten minutes of tricks tires a parrot more than a whole day in the cage. 10 lessons on why trick training works and the band-aid trick for nippy fingers, luring a spin, capturing a wave, chaining basketball step by step, the Big Eagle pose, color and shape sorting, ring toss as foraging, the five-minute rule, the slot machine reward schedule, and training a whole flock without jealousy.

About this course

Trick training is play with a purpose, and this course gives you a trick for each method so you learn the methods, not just the tricks. Lesson 1 explains why ten focused minutes tires a parrot's brain more than hours of perching, sets up your quiet room and treats, and shares my band-aid trick for budgies that nip. Lesson 2 teaches the spin by luring a half-turn, then a full circle, then fading your hand to a flick. Lesson 3 teaches the wave by capturing the foot-lift your bird already does and shaping it higher. Lesson 4 builds basketball as a chain: touch the ball, pick it up, carry it, drop it through the hoop. Lesson 5 captures the morning wing stretch as a Big Eagle pose. Lesson 6 moves into color and shape sorting with blocks and matching cups, and Lesson 7 turns ring toss into a feeding puzzle. Lesson 8 is the five-minute rule, Lesson 9 switches a mastered trick to slot-machine rewards so your bird performs without a treat in view, and Lesson 10 keeps the peace when you train more than one bird in the room.
