African Grey Parrot Care
Intelligence, Routines, and Plucking Solutions
The smartest bird in the house is also the most anxious, and this course explains both. 10 lessons on the African grey's reasoning mind and the sensitivity that comes with it, why a boringly predictable routine is the kindest thing you can offer, contextual speech through model-rival training, calcium, UVB and vitamin A, puzzle foraging that stays hard, the phobic bird and slow desensitization, feather destructive behavior and the vet workup that comes first, confidence through choice and the Retreat Protocol, powder-down dust and lung care, and the growl and quiver that tell you how your grey feels.
About this course
An African grey thinks more than any other parrot you will own, and that is both the joy and the problem. Lesson 1 looks at what their reasoning actually involves and why so much analysis makes them easy to overwhelm. Lesson 2 gives you the first tool: a daily routine so predictable it is boring, with fixed wake, sleep and meal times that let the nervous tension melt away. Lesson 3 moves speech from mimicry to meaning with the model-rival method and purposeful daily labeling. Lesson 4 covers the diet quirk that matters most in greys, calcium, and why leafy greens need UVB light to do any good, plus vitamin A from sweet potato and squash. Lesson 5 keeps a quick brain busy with puzzle boxes and cardboard vaults that get rotated before they get solved. Lesson 6 is the phobic bird: why a new hat is a threat, why forcing the issue backfires, and how to close the distance two feet a day. Lesson 7 takes feather destructive behavior through the vet workup first and the sleep, foraging and training plan second. Lesson 8 builds confidence by letting the bird say no, Lesson 9 handles the dust and your purifier, and Lesson 10 teaches you the growl and the quiver.
